Class of 2012.
Ahhhh my god. Uni is almost over!
It’s weird because now this Facebook timeline feature goes back so easily, looking over the years photos I can remember all of it, all over again.
The little things just come flooding back as I sit here and think of everything thats happened over the last three years. All the memories are flying into my head, and I sit here in awe. Amazement of life in itself, how small the world is (also how narrow peoples minds are), the chances we get, the people you meet as you go through life, the things you do in the moment and the good times I’ve had.
It’s like we just moved in, the awkwardness of introducing yourself to complete strangers and then living with them. A big step in itself ‘flying the nest’ and leaving friends behind having to make new ones. Reminds me of the days in nursery (what kid didn’t cry when their parent dropped them off), except this was a choice you make yourself to go to a uni away from home.

Quite a life experience in itself, I learnt so much - other than the course I chose. Creating relationships, breaking them, moving on, new people, fake people, cool people, weird people, fun times, sad times, scary times, banter, all nighters, no sleep for 3 days, non stop partying, serious studying, revision that never happens, multiple choice exams, real exams, creative work, losing friends who dropped out, trying to keep friendships, careless car drives at 1am to nowhere land for a laugh, random trips to MK, random trips to Birmingham, fire alarms, creating fires, running around halls, being chased around halls, food fights, alcohol fights, bacon fights, water fights at 5am……… ohhhhh my god the list is endless and I could go on and on but all I want to say is, thank you.
Thank you for the opportunity, the people I met, the people I’ll never forget and the people I’ll always keep in touch with.
Tune in to the graduation live, on The University of Northampton’s site and watch me - hopefully not trip, fall and break my neck.
Thank you, and good bye education. Graduation.

This is the most amazing video that shows the power of branding and a good logo design. A five year old goes through some images of different brands, and describes each of them. It is fairly obvious to see what brands he connects with, (Apple, Starbucks, etc.) and which he does not (Motorola, Jaguar, etc.).
From the brands he didn’t recognize, like jaguar, that is okay. Why would a high end luxury car brand want a child knowing them? That might be the case, but that same child knew the mercedes logo. Which luxury brand will this child grow up dreaming of owning?
This is the kind of raw data that all companies covet. (If only the advertising industry could get such raw and unfiltered data out of all demographic groups.)
Until next time marketers!
This is amazing, McDonalds isn’t the only brand that kids will recognise at an early age anymore. I remember being told that some kids can say McDonalds before even saying a sentence or a word in some cases.
